30 Days of Thanks- Day 30

Today I am thankful for everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read these posts.  There is no way to show you or to tell you how thankful I am for each and every person who have read any post on this Blog.  If you have read one, ten, or all of them; there is a special place in my heart for you.  When I uploaded Day One , I didn't know what I was getting myself into.  I didn't know if people would actually read them. I didn't know how I was going to come up with 30 different posts but somehow I did.  The past 30 days have been amazing.  I've been able to share with so many people what I am thankful for.  There is so much more that I am thankful for that didn't make it into this 30 Days of Thanks. Just because November is over, doesn't mean I am done posting.  I'm trying to come up with a way that I can regularly especially since Christmas is coming up.  I have a few ideas in mind but haven't decided which ...

Today I am thankful for leftovers. With all the leftovers that we have from thanksgiving, we have not had to cook a meal.  Having leftovers also means that pie for dinner is always an option.  However, once the leftovers are gone, I don't want turkey, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie for sometime.

Today I am thankful for family traditions. For as long as I can remember, the Christmas decorations have gone up the Friday after Thanksgiving and this year was no different. Just like years past, the day started out with biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then came the Christmas decorations. Putting up the Christmas decorations is always fun. Being in a new house this year meant we got to change up the decorations. We have a Christmas Tree in the living room along with the stocking tree.  The Christmas Tree in the living room was one got after my Grandma moved in with us so it has all the family ornaments on it. The stocking tree has all the stocking for my cousins and Grandparents.  This year we were able to hang our stocking from the banister which was fun to decorate. (My younger brothers stocking is missing so we have to buy him a new one. That's why there is an empty space.) The last of the decorations are in my room. After Christmas ...

30 Days of Thanks- Day 26 (Thanksgiving Day)

Today I am thankful for the wonderful day I had today.  It started at 5am and just winding down for the night. This morning we got up early to put the turkey on so we could eat at 1pm.  My favorite part of putting the turkey on to cook is making the stuffing because it's the best part of the meal.  As the day went on, we cooked more food.  Thanksgiving dinner came together better than I could ever imagined it could. However, the best part of the day came after we ate. Sitting around the table talking, laughing, and playing games.  My Grandma brought over a game that I thought everyone grew up playing or just knew how to play but I was wrong.  As my older brother, Grandma, and I sat at the table playing LCR (Left Center Right), my younger brother and cousins just sat there watching, trying to figure out what the the game was about.  (If you don't know how to play the game or what it is, I suggest you play it). Even thoug...

Today I am thankful for coffee.  Coffee is always there to pick you up and keep you going.  It will never let you down.    There really isn't much more to say because coffee and its wonderfully magical powers can explain themselves.

Today I am thankful for the first snowfall of the season.  There is something magical about the first snowfall.  Waking up this morning and looking out the window to see the field behind the house covered in a blanket of untouched snow was beautiful and amazing.   My dogs seem to have a different opinion but once they get used to it they (especially Daisy) loves to play in the snow.    How to deal with the cold:  http://jessietyler92.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-to-deal-with-cold.html

Today I am thankful for our crock-pot.  It allows us to have hot, home cooked meals at a reasonable time after we both have been gone for a majority of the day.  I love being able to throw what we are having for dinner in the crock-pot and not have to worry about it or having to worry about cooking dinner at 7:30 at night.  It's also nice because it is less dishes that have to be done after dinner (or the next day.)

Today I am thankful that I am able to help others.  I'm thankful that I am in a place in life that allows me to be there when needed or asked.  Tonight has been wonderful and would only have traded it for one thing, but since that isn't possible, I wouldn't trade it.

Today I am thankful for my comfy clothes. Especially leggings.   It is finally the time of year where leggings and hoodies are pretty much the only things I wear.  Leggings work with hoodies, dresses, and skirts.  They're perfect because they can be tucked into boots and don't drag on the ground.  Who would want to walk around all day with wet (or in the winter, frozen/ slush covered) pants? Oh... and YES! leggings are pants!

Today I am thankful for my alarm clock.  Without it, I would never be on time to anything and I would probably sleep all day. Most days I have to leave my house by 6 a.m. and if I didn't have my alarms set I would never make it on time.  So thank you alarm for waking me up each and every morning even though I hate you.  This is what my alarm looks like most mornings.

Today I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my cousins.  Today I got to babysit my two youngest cousins and we had a blast together. We ran errands then went out to lunch together (along with my dad).  The short amount of time that we were together today made me realize that I don't spend enough time with any of my cousin, especially the younger ones. There are so many of us and we're all spread out that it makes it difficult to, but I need to try harder.  Spending time with them today also brought back some memories from when I was younger. Us older cousins used to spend what seemed like every summer together at my grandparents.  I'm lucky enough to have those memories.  One day, I hope I'm just as lucky to be able to look back and have amazing memories with the younger cousins as I do with the ones my age.

Today I am thankful for my jobs. All 3 of them. At times it can be difficult to keep my schedule straight and I often find myself looking at my calendar and text messages many times a day to make sure I am at the right place at the right time. Although it can be hectic at times, I would never dream of changing it (Unless it was to add another job).  I get to work for two amazing families and a wonderful church. My time is spent playing Pokemon, watching Alvin! and the Chipmunks, getting beat playing Wii Tennis and Baseball, reading books and so much more. Yes, there are times that I have to be the "mean one" and send someone to time out, tell them "No", or break up an argument, but that is all part of the job.  Nothing could change the how it feels when the kids see you and they get excited. Being able to work with these kids and being part of their lives is one thing I will always be grateful for.

Today I am thankful for my education.  Without my education I wouldn't be: Where I am today.  Able to write this blog.  Read the books that I love. Cook and bake my favorite recipes. And so much more.  Going to school and getting an education was always something that I took for granted until I got older. I always thought that everyone, everywhere received the same education as me. I was wrong. Once I realized that, I learned to cherish every lesson, easy or difficult, that was taught. I also learned that your education isn't limited to just the classroom. A persons education consists of everything they learn in life.  "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."- Nelson Mandela

To some this may sound crazy. To others, it may not.  Today I am thankful for Social Media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat have all allowed me to stay in touch with family and friends from all over.  With Facebook, I have been able to reconnect with friends from elementary, middle, and high school who have moved away or with those that I had lost contact with.  The Internet has made it possible to reconnect and stay connected with teachers who have made an impact on my life.   I have been able to stay connected with friends I have made in College and have been able to see their dreams come true.  Social Media has made it possible to stay connected with friends who have been away for long periods of time on trips.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat have made it possible to keep in touch with family that I probably would not have stayed in touch with as we have grown older.  Thanks Social Media for helping peopl...

Today, just like every other day, I am thankful for my family.  They have always been there for me when I have needed them and have encouraged me to be the best that I can.   They have taught me to help others and to do so with out being asked.  My family has taught me that not everyone will behind you and your choices but those who care will be.   I have been taught to treat others how I would want to be treated.   They have taught me be thankful for what I have.   I've been taught to love myself and others for who we are.   My family has taught me to love and cherish every moment we have together. You never know which will be the last.  Without my family, I would completely lost and not the person I am today.
