Summer 2019

Image
As Summer 2019 quickly comes to an end I thought I would take a minute to reflect on how amazing it was.  At first, time was moving slowly but before I knew it, Summer was coming to an end. This Summer consisted of many fun adventures to familiar places. We started of with a trip to the one our favorite vacation spots... MYRTLE BEACH, SC. This was my dad and I's sixth trip to Myrtle Beach and it is something I look forward to in the summer.   When we get ready to leave on any trip, we like to post about how we're out looking for a store instead of posting exactly where we're going. When it comes time to leave for Myrtle Beach our go to phrase is "Out looking for Walmart."  After two days in the car, we ended up at Walmart. Following a quick trip to Walmart to stock up on food and drinks for the week, finally made it to our hotel. We were able to spend 8 amazing days sleeping in, swimming, and having fun.  While in Myrtle Beach, we visi...

The Family Tree

Image
Have you ever wondered where your family came from or how you are related to someone? With my family, I can go back a few generations but I know very little about them. Not knowing much about my family history or my family tree makes me wish I would have paid more attention to the stories when I was younger. So I have set out to try and find more out about my family. I can't wait to learn more about my heritage and my family. I also look forward to keeping everyone up to date during this journey.

Stupid Song on the Stupid Radio

Image
This morning started out great. Woke up to a "Happy Valentine's Day" text, my hair was cooperating and my mascara was looking great. For once, I wasn't running late. I finished getting ready and hopped my car to drive to work. That's when my day changed.  I've always found it amazing how there is a song for every mood you could possible be. I find it amazing that when you're in a bad mood, you can find a song to brighten your day. I never thought that a song could ruin my happy mood, but it did today. When this song came on the radio, I couldn't change the station fast enough. Even though it took less then 5 seconds to change the station, I could tell my mascara was ruined.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Thank You "stupid song" for ruining my day. Its been almost two and half years and I still wish to never hear you again.

#TBT- Take Me Back to the Beach

Image
The temperature doesn't seem to be getting any warmer and snow seems to be in the forecast every other day makes me wish I was back here.   Waking up to this in the mornings.  Hanging out on the beach with the family.  As the count down to Spring continues, I'll just keep dreaming of palm trees.

Natural Christmas Makeup

Image
I want to start off by saying make-up is something that should be used for fun or to enhance natural beauty. Make-up should never be a necessity.  With that being said, with Christmas right around the corner, a natural glow make-up look would be great for all the photos that will be taken.  To get this look I started with a tinted moisturizer and a light concealer under my eyes, on my nose, chin and forehead. I blended it all in and set it with a loose face powder.  For the eyes I used a deep burgundy in the crease and a shimmery champagne color all over the lid; blending them together in the outer corner of the eye.  I finished the eyes with a brown eyeliner on the top lash line and some black mascara.  I then filled in my eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil and added some bronze blush to my cheeks.  To finish off the look I added some lip gloss.  I hope you enjoy this look and check out my previous makeup post if you haven't do...

30 Days of Thanks- Day 30

Image
Today I am thankful for everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read these posts.  There is no way to show you or to tell you how thankful I am for each and every person who have read any post on this Blog.  If you have read one, ten, or all of them; there is a special place in my heart for you.  When I uploaded Day One , I didn't know what I was getting myself into.  I didn't know if people would actually read them. I didn't know how I was going to come up with 30 different posts but somehow I did.  The past 30 days have been amazing.  I've been able to share with so many people what I am thankful for.  There is so much more that I am thankful for that didn't make it into this 30 Days of Thanks. Just because November is over, doesn't mean I am done posting.  I'm trying to come up with a way that I can regularly especially since Christmas is coming up.  I have a few ideas in mind but haven't decided which ...

30 Days of Thanks- Day 28

Today I am thankful for leftovers. With all the leftovers that we have from thanksgiving, we have not had to cook a meal.  Having leftovers also means that pie for dinner is always an option.  However, once the leftovers are gone, I don't want turkey, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie for sometime.

Today I am thankful for family traditions. For as long as I can remember, the Christmas decorations have gone up the Friday after Thanksgiving and this year was no different. Just like years past, the day started out with biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then came the Christmas decorations. Putting up the Christmas decorations is always fun. Being in a new house this year meant we got to change up the decorations. We have a Christmas Tree in the living room along with the stocking tree.  The Christmas Tree in the living room was one got after my Grandma moved in with us so it has all the family ornaments on it. The stocking tree has all the stocking for my cousins and Grandparents.  This year we were able to hang our stocking from the banister which was fun to decorate. (My younger brothers stocking is missing so we have to buy him a new one. That's why there is an empty space.) The last of the decorations are in my room. After Christmas ...

Today I am thankful for memories of Thanksgiving pasts.  The other day, dad and I were driving home from shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, talking about how  Thanksgiving weekend used to be. For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving was at my Grandparents.  We would leave Wednesday after school and come home Sunday afternoon.  Thanksgiving morning, we were always told that we were on our own for breakfast but every year we would wake up to donuts.  The day was spent helping Grandma cook, eating the stuffing as the turkey cooked (and getting yelled at for it), waiting in line for the bathroom and just hanging out.  When it came time to dinner everyone's place was set and we sat down to eat. When I was younger, there was the kids table and the adult table. However as I got older and the family grew, the teenagers/ young adults who were between the kids table and adult table ate their dinner in the living room. (Which means it took lo...

Today I am thankful for sales. Last year, the day after Christmas, I was able to buy a brand new Christmas Tree and decorations for under $30.  I can't wait to put up all my new decorations and the ones handed down from my Grandma.  However, I am going to wait because they don't get put up until the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Today I am thankful for coffee.  Coffee is always there to pick you up and keep you going.  It will never let you down.    There really isn't much more to say because coffee and its wonderfully magical powers can explain themselves.

Today I am thankful for our crock-pot.  It allows us to have hot, home cooked meals at a reasonable time after we both have been gone for a majority of the day.  I love being able to throw what we are having for dinner in the crock-pot and not have to worry about it or having to worry about cooking dinner at 7:30 at night.  It's also nice because it is less dishes that have to be done after dinner (or the next day.)

Today I am thankful for snack sized ice cream. They come in handy when you had a large lunch and don't want to make dinner.  They are the perfect size and make a great dinner! Another amazing thing about these adorable little ice creams is that they come with an equally adorable little spoon.

Today I am thankful for music.  No matter what kind of mood I am in or what is going on in my life, there is always music to help things along.  No matter what a person is going through in life, they can always find a song to go along with it.  No matter what the situation is, somewhere, someone has recorded a song about it.   Music can be used to calm down, wake up, or fall asleep.  It also makes very long road trips so much better.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 17

Today I am thankful for naps.  After a long couple of weeks of early mornings and late nights, sometimes a nap is needed.  Today was a perfect day to take a nap.  Between the rainy day and extra cuddly dogs it was hard to say no to a nap.  Should I have taken a nap today? Probably not, but I did. I loved every second of it.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 16

Today I am thankful for my brothers.  Being the middle child between two brothers can be a difficult job but I can handle in most days.  Today is also my little brothers 16th birthday! My older brother will always be the older brother but no matter how old my little brother is, I will always refer to him as my little brother.  Going through my TimeHop this morning, they all consisted of the phrase "I can't believe my little brother is __ years old" and today is no different. I can't believe he is 16 years old and will be driving before we know it.  Happy 16th Birthday Mathew!!!

Today I am thankful for my past.  Everything from my past has lead me to where I am today.  Every decision I have ever made.  Every choice I have made. Each has played a part in where I have made it so far in life.  A person can not go back and change their past and I personally wouldn't want to because at some point in my life that choice was something that I wanted.

Today I am thankful for last night.  We had 4 of my cousins over for a sleepover.  We had a blast making homemade pizza.  And making silly faces. I'd say that I have successfully kept my title of "Best Cousin Ever" Award.  And I guess my dad can have the "Best Uncle Ever" Award.  The sleepover ended this morning with a pancake eating contest.  Many memories were made that I hope the kids will remember forever.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 13

Today I am thankful that I am able to help others.  I'm thankful that I am in a place in life that allows me to be there when needed or asked.  Tonight has been wonderful and would only have traded it for one thing, but since that isn't possible, I wouldn't trade it.

Today I am thankful for the beach.  With the weather getting colder here, it makes me appreciate the time we have spent at the beach during the summer more.  Last night, the strong winds from the storm sounded like waves coming in off the ocean. That sound and the memories from trips to the beach make the reality that winter and snow are coming easier to handle because each day of winter that passes means we are one day closer to spring and summer.  I love the winter, snow, and cold but I rather be sitting on the beach.
