The Family Tree

Have you ever wondered where your family came from or how you are related to someone? With my family, I can go back a few generations but I know very little about them. Not knowing much about my family history or my family tree makes me wish I would have paid more attention to the stories when I was younger. So I have set out to try and find more out about my family. I can't wait to learn more about my heritage and my family. I also look forward to keeping everyone up to date during this journey.

Stupid Song on the Stupid Radio

This morning started out great. Woke up to a "Happy Valentine's Day" text, my hair was cooperating and my mascara was looking great. For once, I wasn't running late. I finished getting ready and hopped my car to drive to work. That's when my day changed.
I've always found it amazing how there is a song for every mood you could possible be. I find it amazing that when you're in a bad mood, you can find a song to brighten your day. I never thought that a song could ruin my happy mood, but it did today.
When this song came on the radio, I couldn't change the station fast enough. Even though it took less then 5 seconds to change the station, I could tell my mascara was ruined.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Thank You "stupid song" for ruining my day. Its been almost two and half years and I still wish to never hear you again.

#TBT- Take Me Back to the Beach

The temperature doesn't seem to be getting any warmer and snow seems to be in the forecast every other day makes me wish I was back here.
Waking up to this in the mornings.

Hanging out on the beach with the family.

As the count down to Spring continues, I'll just keep dreaming of palm trees.

Setting Goals and Making Plans

Over the last two months I have done a lot of thinking about this blog. I've been asking myself many questions. What do I want out of this? What direction do I want to go in? What do I want those who take time to read this to get? After some thinking about it, I have decided to set 3 goals for this blog.

Blog Goals 2016:
Post twice a week
Include the good, bad, success, and fails
Try new things

With goals set, I can now move forward to achieving them. So stayed tuned because there are some exciting things being planned for the upcoming summer and more. Also leave comments of what you would like to see on here.

Natural Christmas Makeup

I want to start off by saying make-up is something that should be used for fun or to enhance natural beauty. Make-up should never be a necessity.
With that being said, with Christmas right around the corner, a natural glow make-up look would be great for all the photos that will be taken.

To get this look I started with a tinted moisturizer and a light concealer under my eyes, on my nose, chin and forehead. I blended it all in and set it with a loose face powder.

For the eyes I used a deep burgundy in the crease and a shimmery champagne color all over the lid; blending them together in the outer corner of the eye.
I finished the eyes with a brown eyeliner on the top lash line and some black mascara.

I then filled in my eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil and added some bronze blush to my cheeks.
To finish off the look I added some lip gloss.

I hope you enjoy this look and check out my previous makeup post if you haven't done so already.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 30

Today I am thankful for everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read these posts.
There is no way to show you or to tell you how thankful I am for each and every person who have read any post on this Blog.
If you have read one, ten, or all of them; there is a special place in my heart for you.
When I uploaded Day One, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
I didn't know if people would actually read them.
I didn't know how I was going to come up with 30 different posts but somehow I did.
The past 30 days have been amazing.
I've been able to share with so many people what I am thankful for.
There is so much more that I am thankful for that didn't make it into this 30 Days of Thanks.
Just because November is over, doesn't mean I am done posting.
I'm trying to come up with a way that I can regularly especially since Christmas is coming up.
I have a few ideas in mind but haven't decided which to go with yet.
If you have any suggestions for December or for anything, please let me know.
I have really enjoyed doing the 30 Days of Thanks and couldn't have done it with out you.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 29

Today I am thankful for cloudy days.
Since today was a very cloudy day, it was perfect to cuddle with my dog and watch Christmas movies.
I came home after work, ate lunch and curled up in bed with Daisy and watched a couple Christmas movies that I had recorded previously in the week.
It was nice to have a relaxing day after a few weeks of nonstop work and getting ready for thanksgiving.

(Oh... and I'm also thankful for wine.)

30 Days of Thanks- Day 28

Today I am thankful for leftovers.
With all the leftovers that we have from thanksgiving, we have not had to cook a meal.
Having leftovers also means that pie for dinner is always an option.
However, once the leftovers are gone, I don't want turkey, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie for sometime.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 27

Today I am thankful for family traditions.
For as long as I can remember, the Christmas decorations have gone up the Friday after Thanksgiving and this year was no different.
Just like years past, the day started out with biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then came the Christmas decorations.
Putting up the Christmas decorations is always fun.
Being in a new house this year meant we got to change up the decorations.
We have a Christmas Tree in the living room along with the stocking tree.

The Christmas Tree in the living room was one got after my Grandma moved in with us so it has all the family ornaments on it.
The stocking tree has all the stocking for my cousins and Grandparents.
This year we were able to hang our stocking from the banister which was fun to decorate. (My younger brothers stocking is missing so we have to buy him a new one. That's why there is an empty space.)

The last of the decorations are in my room.
After Christmas last year I bought a new tree and decorations because the house we were living in at the time had two living rooms.
The plan was to put a Christmas Tree in each one, but since we moved they went up in my room.

30 Days of Thanks- Day 26 (Thanksgiving Day)

Today I am thankful for the wonderful day I had today.
It started at 5am and just winding down for the night.
This morning we got up early to put the turkey on so we could eat at 1pm.
My favorite part of putting the turkey on to cook is making the stuffing because it's the best part of the meal.

As the day went on, we cooked more food.
Thanksgiving dinner came together better than I could ever imagined it could.
However, the best part of the day came after we ate.
Sitting around the table talking, laughing, and playing games.
My Grandma brought over a game that I thought everyone grew up playing or just knew how to play but I was wrong.
As my older brother, Grandma, and I sat at the table playing LCR (Left Center Right), my younger brother and cousins just sat there watching, trying to figure out what the the game was about.
(If you don't know how to play the game or what it is, I suggest you play it).
Even though not everyone was here today, having those that where here today made me realize just how lucky I am.
How lucky I am to have the family that I have.
How lucky I am that we get to spend holidays together.
How lucky I am that we have a home that everyone can gather in and enjoy time together.
How lucky I am to be able to cook a meal for everyone to enjoy.
And most importantly...
How lucky I am to be here and have the life that I do.
