Fried Chicken

Homemade Fried Chicken This is the recipe that my family uses. When we make fried chicken, we do not necessarily measure out each ingredient. These are all roughly the measurements of what we use. When making this recipe for you and your family, use spices and amounts of each that you and your family like.     What you'll need... Chicken (I make one leg and one thigh per person) 2 eggs 1 cup flour 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1/2 tablespoon season salt 1 tablespoon black pepper kosher salt Vegetable oil To Make Fried Chicken... Heat about one inch of oil in a deep skillet to about 350 Degrees F. In a bowl, mix flour, onion powder, garlic powder, season salt, and half of the black pepper. In a separate bowl, scramble eggs and mix in a dash of kosher salt and the other half of the black pepper.  Pat dry the chicken with paper towels and dip in the egg mixture. After chicken is dipped in egg, coat chicken in flour mixtur

Sadness of September

The month of September is a very emotional month for family and for myself. September brings birthdays, wedding anniversaries, cornfest, and anniversaries of the passing of my Grandpa and Grandma. Just as anyone else would say about their own grandparents, my Grandma and Grandpa were two of the greatest people I have ever known. They were full of love for each other and full of love for everyone else. Words can not begin to explain how much we miss them both each and every day. My Grandpa and I summer 2009 I was very lucky to have spent the last month of my grandpa's life with him. I was able to gain a month of memories that I will hold in my heart forever. On September 27, 2013 my family and I got to say our final good-byes to such a wonder man who will forever be in our hearts.   My brothers and I with our Grandma. Summer 2013 After my Grandpa passed away, my Grandma moved in with my family. Four days shy of the two year anniversary of my Grandpa's pas

Dear Future Me,

Dear future me, There are so many questions I want to ask you! There are so many things I want to know about you! Did you graduate college yet? Have you gotten married? Have you had kids? Where do you live? Do you work? If so, where? Did you ever figure out how to do winged eyeliner without looking like a total mess? Although I have all these questions, there are a few things I want to remind you of just in case you have forgotten. . The first thing I want to remind you of is very important. I want to remind you of all the bad, upsetting, and trying time you have had. You may be wondering why I want you to remember these times that you have tried so hard to forget; but trust me, there is a reason. Just think back to them. Do you remember? It's because of those times that you are where you are today. Yes, the good, happy times play a part in the success you're living today but it's because you worked hard, stayed positive, and looked toward your future during those r

Welcome!!

To be completely honest, I have no idea why I have decided to start this blog.  I've thought about it for a long time, came up with different ideas, but I was never really able to expand on those individual ideas. The different ideas I have had for this blog have ranged anywhere for beauty to food and recipes to simply living a better life to friends and family. Since I wasn't able to decide on just one topic and go with it (I'm a very indecisive person!), I have decided to blog about a little bit of everything. Life isn't just about one thing, it's about a variety of things. So why should I focus on just one area of interest for my blog? Going with the theme of having no idea, I have no idea where to really begin. I'm thinking I should probably start with letting you know a little bit about me. Here goes nothing: My name is Jessica.  I'm 21 years old.  I will be starting my third year at the local Junior College. Family and friends are a big part of
