30 Days of Thanks- Day 30

Today I am thankful for everyone who has taken the time out of their day to read these posts.  There is no way to show you or to tell you how thankful I am for each and every person who have read any post on this Blog.  If you have read one, ten, or all of them; there is a special place in my heart for you.  When I uploaded Day One , I didn't know what I was getting myself into.  I didn't know if people would actually read them. I didn't know how I was going to come up with 30 different posts but somehow I did.  The past 30 days have been amazing.  I've been able to share with so many people what I am thankful for.  There is so much more that I am thankful for that didn't make it into this 30 Days of Thanks. Just because November is over, doesn't mean I am done posting.  I'm trying to come up with a way that I can regularly especially since Christmas is coming up.  I have a few ideas in mind but haven't decided which to go with y

Today I am thankful for cloudy days.  Since today was a very cloudy day, it was perfect to cuddle with my dog and watch Christmas movies.  I came home after work, ate lunch and curled up in bed with Daisy and watched a couple Christmas movies that I had recorded previously in the week.  It was nice to have a relaxing day after a few weeks of nonstop work and getting ready for thanksgiving.  (Oh... and I'm also thankful for wine.)

Today I am thankful for leftovers. With all the leftovers that we have from thanksgiving, we have not had to cook a meal.  Having leftovers also means that pie for dinner is always an option.  However, once the leftovers are gone, I don't want turkey, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie for sometime.

Today I am thankful for family traditions. For as long as I can remember, the Christmas decorations have gone up the Friday after Thanksgiving and this year was no different. Just like years past, the day started out with biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then came the Christmas decorations. Putting up the Christmas decorations is always fun. Being in a new house this year meant we got to change up the decorations. We have a Christmas Tree in the living room along with the stocking tree.  The Christmas Tree in the living room was one got after my Grandma moved in with us so it has all the family ornaments on it. The stocking tree has all the stocking for my cousins and Grandparents.  This year we were able to hang our stocking from the banister which was fun to decorate. (My younger brothers stocking is missing so we have to buy him a new one. That's why there is an empty space.) The last of the decorations are in my room. After Christmas last

Today I am thankful for the wonderful day I had today.  It started at 5am and just winding down for the night. This morning we got up early to put the turkey on so we could eat at 1pm.  My favorite part of putting the turkey on to cook is making the stuffing because it's the best part of the meal.  As the day went on, we cooked more food.  Thanksgiving dinner came together better than I could ever imagined it could. However, the best part of the day came after we ate. Sitting around the table talking, laughing, and playing games.  My Grandma brought over a game that I thought everyone grew up playing or just knew how to play but I was wrong.  As my older brother, Grandma, and I sat at the table playing LCR (Left Center Right), my younger brother and cousins just sat there watching, trying to figure out what the the game was about.  (If you don't know how to play the game or what it is, I suggest you play it). Even though not everyone was here to

Today I am thankful that I was able to start Thanksgiving dinner prep.  We were able to make pumpkin pie, crust-less pumpkin pie, cheesecake and the cheesecake topping.   We were also able to put together the relish tray and chop the vegetables that we need for tomorrow.  Having the time today to get some stuff done for tomorrows dinner comes in handy because it is less we have to run around and do tomorrow.  It's also helpful because we were able to make sure we didn't forget anything for Thanksgiving dinner.

Today I am thankful for memories of Thanksgiving pasts.  The other day, dad and I were driving home from shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, talking about how  Thanksgiving weekend used to be. For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving was at my Grandparents.  We would leave Wednesday after school and come home Sunday afternoon.  Thanksgiving morning, we were always told that we were on our own for breakfast but every year we would wake up to donuts.  The day was spent helping Grandma cook, eating the stuffing as the turkey cooked (and getting yelled at for it), waiting in line for the bathroom and just hanging out.  When it came time to dinner everyone's place was set and we sat down to eat. When I was younger, there was the kids table and the adult table. However as I got older and the family grew, the teenagers/ young adults who were between the kids table and adult table ate their dinner in the living room. (Which means it took longer to make it to the adult t

Today I am thankful for sales. Last year, the day after Christmas, I was able to buy a brand new Christmas Tree and decorations for under $30.  I can't wait to put up all my new decorations and the ones handed down from my Grandma.  However, I am going to wait because they don't get put up until the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Today I am thankful for coffee.  Coffee is always there to pick you up and keep you going.  It will never let you down.    There really isn't much more to say because coffee and its wonderfully magical powers can explain themselves.

Today I am thankful for the first snowfall of the season.  There is something magical about the first snowfall.  Waking up this morning and looking out the window to see the field behind the house covered in a blanket of untouched snow was beautiful and amazing.   My dogs seem to have a different opinion but once they get used to it they (especially Daisy) loves to play in the snow.    How to deal with the cold:  http://jessietyler92.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-to-deal-with-cold.html

Today I am thankful for our crock-pot.  It allows us to have hot, home cooked meals at a reasonable time after we both have been gone for a majority of the day.  I love being able to throw what we are having for dinner in the crock-pot and not have to worry about it or having to worry about cooking dinner at 7:30 at night.  It's also nice because it is less dishes that have to be done after dinner (or the next day.)

Today I am thankful for snack sized ice cream. They come in handy when you had a large lunch and don't want to make dinner.  They are the perfect size and make a great dinner! Another amazing thing about these adorable little ice creams is that they come with an equally adorable little spoon.

Today I am thankful for music.  No matter what kind of mood I am in or what is going on in my life, there is always music to help things along.  No matter what a person is going through in life, they can always find a song to go along with it.  No matter what the situation is, somewhere, someone has recorded a song about it.   Music can be used to calm down, wake up, or fall asleep.  It also makes very long road trips so much better.

Today I am thankful for naps.  After a long couple of weeks of early mornings and late nights, sometimes a nap is needed.  Today was a perfect day to take a nap.  Between the rainy day and extra cuddly dogs it was hard to say no to a nap.  Should I have taken a nap today? Probably not, but I did. I loved every second of it.

Today I am thankful for my brothers.  Being the middle child between two brothers can be a difficult job but I can handle in most days.  Today is also my little brothers 16th birthday! My older brother will always be the older brother but no matter how old my little brother is, I will always refer to him as my little brother.  Going through my TimeHop this morning, they all consisted of the phrase "I can't believe my little brother is __ years old" and today is no different. I can't believe he is 16 years old and will be driving before we know it.  Happy 16th Birthday Mathew!!!

Today I am thankful for my past.  Everything from my past has lead me to where I am today.  Every decision I have ever made.  Every choice I have made. Each has played a part in where I have made it so far in life.  A person can not go back and change their past and I personally wouldn't want to because at some point in my life that choice was something that I wanted.

Today I am thankful for last night.  We had 4 of my cousins over for a sleepover.  We had a blast making homemade pizza.  And making silly faces. I'd say that I have successfully kept my title of "Best Cousin Ever" Award.  And I guess my dad can have the "Best Uncle Ever" Award.  The sleepover ended this morning with a pancake eating contest.  Many memories were made that I hope the kids will remember forever.

Today I am thankful that I am able to help others.  I'm thankful that I am in a place in life that allows me to be there when needed or asked.  Tonight has been wonderful and would only have traded it for one thing, but since that isn't possible, I wouldn't trade it.

Today I am thankful for the beach.  With the weather getting colder here, it makes me appreciate the time we have spent at the beach during the summer more.  Last night, the strong winds from the storm sounded like waves coming in off the ocean. That sound and the memories from trips to the beach make the reality that winter and snow are coming easier to handle because each day of winter that passes means we are one day closer to spring and summer.  I love the winter, snow, and cold but I rather be sitting on the beach.

Today I am thankful for the men and women who have fought and are fighting for this country.  If wasn't for those who were and are brave to defend what this country stands for.  I am also thankful to their families who have also sacrificed so much.

Today I am thankful for my comfy clothes. Especially leggings.   It is finally the time of year where leggings and hoodies are pretty much the only things I wear.  Leggings work with hoodies, dresses, and skirts.  They're perfect because they can be tucked into boots and don't drag on the ground.  Who would want to walk around all day with wet (or in the winter, frozen/ slush covered) pants? Oh... and YES! leggings are pants!

Today I am thankful for my alarm clock.  Without it, I would never be on time to anything and I would probably sleep all day. Most days I have to leave my house by 6 a.m. and if I didn't have my alarms set I would never make it on time.  So thank you alarm for waking me up each and every morning even though I hate you.  This is what my alarm looks like most mornings.

Today I am thankful for my pets.  Daisy is our giant lap dog.  She's always ready to cuddle (especially if she is cold or it is storming). She loves to take my side of the bed. Including my pillow and blanket.  Harriet was my Grandma Ehrman's dog. My Grandpa told her that she could get a dog if someone gave her one. So my Dad and Uncle found and gave her a dog. Now she is our dog.  They may not be the worlds smartest dogs, but they are the most lovable. I don't know what I would do without them or what they would do without each other.
